Section 1 – Conversations on Upasana

  1. A dialogue begins on meditative knowledge of food and the interconnectedness of body and mind.
  2. The essence of food gives rise to semen, which becomes the human body.
  3. Heat transforms food into the generative seed, linking digestion to procreation.
  4. From semen, life forms arise; thus, food is the basis of existence.
  5. Fire, sun, and water are linked as stages in the transformation of food.
  6. Rain causes food to grow, which sustains all beings.
  7. The cycle of rain and food is meditated upon as divine manifestation.
  8. Knowing this cycle leads to understanding cosmic order and sustains life.
  9. Food is the source of thought, hence must be pure.
  10. Pure food leads to pure being and clarity of mind.
  11. Meditating on the source of food brings insight and mastery of life.
  12. One who knows this attains stability in speech and strength.
  13. Such a person becomes full of vitality and established in knowledge.
  14. Realizing food as Brahman frees one from suffering and secures liberation.

Secion 2 – Symbolic Meditations on Vital Forces

  1. All beings are born from food and speech; meditating on their unity brings insight.
  2. He who meditates on food and speech becomes prosperous and gains followers.
  3. Meditating on breath as Brahman leads to longevity and strength.
  4. Knowing breath as the divine essence, one becomes fulfilled and protected.
  5. Fire, as a form of breath, is meditated upon to realize its cosmic power.
  6. Breath pervades all things; recognizing this brings stability and courage.
  7. Mind and speech work together; speech expresses what mind conceives.
  8. Meditating on the harmony of speech and mind leads to truth and success.
  9. The self is the inner controller of breath, speech, and mind.
  10. Realizing the Self as their origin makes one fearless and wise.
  11. One who knows the Self becomes the ruler of his senses and free.
  12. Inner meditation on the elements reveals the Self within all.
  13. Such knowledge brings peace, wisdom, and liberation from rebirth.

Section 3 – Advanced Symbolic Meditations

  1. The sun is worshipped as the life-giving eye of all beings.
  2. Meditation on the sun as Brahman grants vision, knowledge, and vitality.
  3. Fire, wind, and sun are linked as aspects of the divine.
  4. Speech, breath, and sight are connected to the cosmic forces.
  5. Breath is supreme among vital forces; it sustains all organs.
  6. One who realizes this becomes master over speech and life.
  7. The mind directs senses; meditating on it brings clarity and strength.
  8. Meditating on the heart as the seat of life reveals the Self.
  9. The Self is hidden in the heart; knowing it frees one from fear.
  10. The subtle self controls gross actions; understanding this leads to mastery.
  11. Fire and breath are one; their worship purifies and empowers.
  12. Offerings to fire are symbolic of offering the self to Brahman.
  13. All ritual actions are inwardly directed to the Self.
  14. Knowing the symbolic meaning behind rituals leads to true knowledge.
  15. The syllable Om represents the whole universe and Brahman.
  16. Meditation on Om unites the seeker with the Absolute.
  17. The mind focused on Om attains peace and Self-realization.
  18. One who knows this transcends time and death.
  19. Just as fire consumes, knowledge consumes ignorance.
  20. Meditation brings purity, and purity leads to truth.
  21.  Truth is the highest virtue and the path to liberation.
  22. The knower of truth shines with inner light.
  23. Brahman is beyond mind and speech; it is pure awareness.
  24. The one who realizes Brahman becomes free from bondage.
  25. The liberated one is not born again and merges with the Self.
  26. Such a person lives in joy, peace, and absolute freedom.

Section 4 – Inner Fire, Ritual, and Self

  1. A detailed meditation on the fire within the body and its role in digestion.
  2. The body is a sacred altar; breath is the priest performing offerings.
  3. Eating is visualized as a fire-ritual, turning food into vitality.
  4. The inner fire transforms food into life-force and strength.
  5. Meditation on digestion as sacred fire brings understanding of body and soul.
  6. Every act of consumption can be a sacred act when done mindfully.
  7. Offering food with awareness elevates the act to worship.
  8. Such knowledge makes life divine and the body a temple of Brahman.
  9. The Self is the witness of all bodily functions, beyond them all.
  10. Realizing the Self within brings detachment from body and mind.
  11. The wise see all actions as offerings to the divine Self.
  12. Actions done in awareness purify and do not bind.
  13. The world is a reflection of the Self; knowing this brings peace.
  14. Meditation on the inner Self leads to merging with the Absolute.
  15. Life becomes effortless when one surrenders to the Self.
  16. Knowing the unity of fire, breath, and consciousness brings freedom.
  17. The realized person sees no difference between ritual and meditation.

Section 5 – Final Reflections and The Path of Liberation

  1. The Self is the unseen seer, unheard hearer, and unthought thinker—pure consciousness.
  2. Everything is sustained by the Self; it is the support of all.
  3. One who realizes this Self becomes fearless, free from sorrow.
  4. The Self is beyond good and evil, birth and death—immortal and pure.
  5. Knowing the Self as Brahman, one transcends all suffering and attains liberation.
